The House met at 2.30. Mr Massey intimated that on and after Monday next the House would sit on Mondays at 7.30 p.m. for. the-transaction of Government business. FIRST READINGS. The following Bills were introduced and read a first time: Betterment^Mr McCallum), and Compulsory Residence on State Leaseholds (Hon. Mr Buddo). INDUSTRIES COMMITTEE. On the motion of Mr Massey the Industries Committee was re-instated, thoir work mot being completed. SECOND READINGS. The following Bills were read a second time after brief debate: The Kau ri Gum Industry Bill (Hon. D. H. Guthrie), and Auckland University College Site (Hon. W. F. Massey). FINANCIAL STATEMENT. When the House resumed at 7.30 Six James Allen read'the Financial Statement. The reading of the Statement was concluded amidst applause at 9.28. Mr Massey agreed to take the debate on Tuesday next and the House rose at 0.30.— P.A.
