CRIMINAL VIOLENCE.

BAREFACED ROBBERY

(Received 8 a.m.)

LONDON, Sept. 17

Six armed and masked men robbed the officials of the Cork lunatic asylum of fifteen hundred pounds sterling in the presence of an apathetic crowd, and escaped on bicycles.—A. and N.Z.

DUBLIN, Sept. 17

The police are having much difficulty in tracing secret organisations responsible for outrages. It is evident that the terrorists are a very limited body numerically, but the fear in spired is very widespread.

In one case a girl gave water to a dying officer and loosened his tunic. Her boycott followed, and it was necessary to remove the girl to England.

In the disaffected areas more police are necessary, and if the barracks are to be regarded as safe the buildings must be heavily sandbagged against assault.—A. and N.Z.
