ENCOURAGEMENT.
After listening to the remarks of the speakers Capts. Maxwell and Bone expressed thanks for the opportunity of the meeting, and said their investigations had impressed them with the great possibilities of Whangarei as a port and the productive power of the district. There were no great difficulties in the way of making Whangarei a first-class port, but as they had to report to their respective companies it would not be possible for them to discuss the question in any. detail. The meeting then terminated with a cordial exchange of good wishes for future development.
