The City Council have adopted a scheme for building , fifty dwellings as a, first instalment of the plan to relieve the housing difficulty; The initial lot when erected will be sold by ballot. They will comprise eighteen houses at Maranui. An. iextension. of the scheme to include the erection of sixty buildings at Northiland is contemplated at a later date. The Harbour Board has dismissed the question as affecting its employees, but nothing has been done as the board does not possess power to engage in such an enterprise at present.—Press Assn.
