SIBERIAN BUTTER.

The principal markets for Siberian butter were the United Kingdom of Britain and Germany, as about 80 per cent of the butter exported went to those two countries. In the early development of the export butter trade, agents had devoted the greater part of their attention to he development of trade with Germany. However, the Russo-Japanese war inter-1 vened, and during the disorganisation that followed Polish butter replaced the Siberian butter in Germany. It was then necessary to seek new outlets and through connection in the British market a large trade with that country was de veloped. A small quantty of Siberian butter was received in the United States following the lowering of the tariff rate on butter early in 1914, but as the war broke out shortly thereafter that trade was of no consequence. The development of export trade in Siberian butter has •been due largely to the enterprise of Danish merchants.
