PROSPERITY AND APATHY.

His Lordship Bishop Julius, preaching to a crowded congregation at Okain's Bay, deplored the apathy concerning religion to be observed in the Bays of the Peninsula. He considered it was due to the influence of their environment, and to the prevailing prosperity. Narrow valleys breed narrow thoughts. "People making money easily," he sad, "often neglect the liighe things of life." He contrasted the poor communities of the West Coast .with the rich communities in the Bays of the Peninsula. "These rich bays," he said, "are actually living on charity, as they are unable to maintain themselves, and must be helped financially."
