SENSATIONAL EXPLOSION.
BEINZINE FUMES AGAIN.
TRAGIC CONSEQUENCES AVERTED
CHRISTCHURCH, This Day.
On Saturday afternoon the people in Cathedral Square were startled by a terrific explosion which occurred in the premises occupied by W. J. Bull, typewriter expert, of Chancery Lane, adjoining Everybody's Picture Theatre, which was holding a session at-the time. The attendance included many children, who .were considerably startled, and a panic was'narrowly averted. The whole of Bull's workshop and offices were badly damaged. A youth named Charles MoGlashan was cleaning a typewriter with benzine, when the spirit ignited and caused the explosion. McGlasban was badly burnt about the face and received several severe cuts. He was removed to the hospital. Large sections of the walls of the workshop were blown out, the ceiling fell in, all- 'the windows in. the immediate vicinity were shattered and the wall dividing Bull's from Every- / body's Theatre bulged put, but did uot collapse.—Press Assn.
