TRIBUTE
WELLINGTON, This Day.
In connection with the questions which are being asked in connection with the V.M.C.A. war funds Expenditure, a deputation from the YiM.C.A. which waited on the Minister of Internal Affairs yesterday, stated that the balance-sheet was in the hands of the Government auditors and offered an explanation on any points arising out of the balance sheet.
The : Minister, in reply, said that he desired, •> oh. the part of the Government, io express the 'highest appreciation of : ' v >fehe.- /work <-one, ftot only in • New Zealand, but in every field of war, by the V.M.C.A. This had been rendered possible by the splendid manner in which the people of New Zealand had responded to their appeal for money. As Minister in charge of War Funds, he desired to plac e his approval upon the,work that had been done by the V.M.C.A, for our men, and to express the opinion that the association had been of untold benefit to the boys who* had been away. He was satisfied that there was no legitimate ground of complaint iri connection with the expenditure of the association funds,—-Press Assn.
