BIENNIAL MEETINGS.

DAIRY COMPANY.

At Saturday's meeting of the Hikurangi Dairy Company, Mr W. O. Clark, having previously given no- j tice moved f''That a general meeting of the shareholders of the company b e held half-yearly." Mr Dempster seconded. Mr Clarke considered that the proposal required very little discussion. Half-yearly meetings would giv c the shareholders an opportunity oj going more fully into, the affairs of the company, and he felt sure the results would b e beneficial to the shareholders. Mr Mitchell considered it would be inconvenient for shareholders to attend two meetings. Mr Powell was very much in favour of the idea, and if adopted it would be to the advantage of the company. Mr J. R. Melnnes thought that it would be a mistake. Mr Christie referred to the tim,e. they had lost that day in taking the ballot, and pointed out that the Jersey Breeders' Association had their ballot papers sent in before the day of meeting. These were, then count' ed by the scrutineers, and the results were ready for the meeting. Mr Elliott agreed that a good deal of time had been taken by the ballot, and doubted whether the ballot innovation had been a success. The motion was then put and lost.
