ROAD MACHINERY.
Afossrs Smith and Woodman wrote quoting prices for two graders for grading machines. Tlie two Austin graders would bo available for the Council until the cml of August. The firm is to be informed that the Council regrets that it lias no use for the girders at present. COWARD'S BRIDGE. W. Coward drew attention to the dilapidated state of Coward's bridge and asked what was to be done by the Council. Mr Coward is to be informed that a Government grant, has been applied for. KIKIPAKA- FOREMAN. The foreman at Kiripaka asked for an. allowance for horse feed as no grass was available. He also asked for telephone connection to his house. He would pay half cost. Both matters were left in the hands of the 'member for the riding. ENGINEER'S REPORT. The engineer reported as follows: — Wheki Valley Road.—The terms of acquiring the land for road purposes have been obtained from the property holders and are submitted for the Council's consideration. tVhangarei-Whangarei Heads Road. —A survey for this road has been completed to Waikaraka but some suggested alterations have yet to be attended to. Mnngakahia Loan Proposal.—An estimate of cost of suggested road improvement has been made and furnished to the councillors of that riding and representative ratepayers. A copy is attached to this report. Otonga Roads Loan Proposal.—An inspection of the roads has been made but the estimate is not yet completed. Hikurangi Bridget—A survey of the bridge site has been made along with the road approach. Takahiwai Mareden Point.—This grant is now being expended by the Public Works Department. Helena Bay Coast Road. —A survey for expenditure of this grant has been made. CREEK DEVIATION. The completion of the deviation of Wilson's Creek crossing Otaika road was left to the engineer and Cr. Kernohan to inspect and accept if satisfactory. •OPOTIKI ROAD. The engineer was authorised to call tenders for repairs to the Opotiki road. ROAD BLOCKED. Chas. D. McKenzie asked for the Council to take action in removing the obstruction on Te Mata road caused by Mr Sargent. On the motion of Cr. Jones the engineer was instructed to take the necessary steps to clear the obstruction. ACCOUNTS. Accounts amounting to £1792 10s were passed for payment. GtRADER. Cr. Currey was authorised to purchase a junior grader for use in Kiripaka'riding.
