GOOD TABLEAUX EFFECTS.

During the celebrations in Whangarei Messrs Harrison and Sons were responsible for a charming variety of representations in the gaily decorated lorry. Miss Symes; represented "Peace" on Saturday and "Britannia" on Monday, and each tim e was the central figure on the lorrry. The others taking part in their varying roles were as follows: —On Saturday, "Sailors": Misses Simpson, Kay, Milne, Williams, Fox. "Soldiers": Misses Braun (lieutenant), L. Braun, Dyer, Hutchings, Eyles. "Red Cross Nurses": Misses Kettle, Irving, Miller, and Mrs Bennett. On Children's Day: Miss Simpson was "Scotland," Miss Williams "Ireland," Mrs Bennett "Wales," Miss Eyles "Belgium," Mass Fox "France," Miss Braun "Italy," Miss Kettle, "U.S.A., Miss Hutchings "India," Miss Milne "Roumania," Miss Miller "Servia,"- Miss Dyer "Japan," Miss Kay, Maori, New Zealand,," Miss L. Braun "Star of Peace," Miss Irving "Lady Scout." There were two young ladies as "Jack-tars" from outside th e firm.

The tableaux in the motor lorry (kindly lent by Messrs Timewell and King), under the direction of Mrs Arthur Wilkinson, received much attention. The driver was Mr T. Drake. Little Miss Miriam Wilkinson represented "Peace," and "Britannia" was typified by Miss Marjorie Heather. "Servia" was remembered by Mrs Arthur Wilkinson, and the "Entente Cordiale" by Miss Margaret Carr, while "Belgium" was entrusted to Miss Oarr. The New Zealand soldier was represented hy Miss Doris MacGregor, and the Red Cross by Nurse Ruby Ball.
