VIOLENT U.S. SCENES

(Received 8 a.m.) LONDON, May 2. In Paris yesterday infantry and cavalry reinforced the gendarmerie to prevent May Day demonstrators marching to the Place de la Concorde. The crowd twice broke the military cordon, whereupon the firemen turned hoses on the mob. Many heads were broken in baton charges. The New York police reserve dispersed the crowd, who left three dead.
