WELLINGTON, Nov. 8.

I A serious railway accident is rei ported in which seven passengers j were badly injured. One died on , che way to Taihape hospital. Two I nail agents were found dead when recovered from the wreckage. It will take several days to clear the slip.—Press Assn. The following telegrams with reference to the railway accident have been reseived at the post office: — "Postmaster at Mataroa reports that this morning the Main Trunk express ran into a slip north of here. The ystal van was smashed to pieces and the correspondence strewn over ho ground. Both postal agents lead. All the service seriously disorganised." Postmaster at Taihape reports a slip about Hi miles north of Mataoa. A special train has left for the slip." The postmaster at Taihape reports later: "The special train has arrived Aom the slip with two Auckland mail agents killed and one passenger who lied on the way to Taihape. Six others were injured. No names are >L available." The postmaster at Auckland re•■_ts: "The mail agents who left by last night's express which ran into a ■dip were J. H. Williams and R. Marin. Williams was a married man ' Martin was single." A later message says: A serious accident occurred on the Main Trunk line at 6 o'clock this morning. The Auckland express for Wellington ran into a slip 11 _ miles north of Mataroa, north of Taihape. Two cars and the mail van were telescoped. Two postal officials were killed and two elderly male passengers seriously injured. Two other passengers also sus tamed injuries. All available medical aid has been sent to the scene of the accident. The injured passengers are being transferred to the Taihape hospital. The mail was uninjured. The passengers are being transferred at the slip. It was expected that the train would leave Taihape six hours late.—Press Assn.
