ALSACE-LORRAINE.

SYMBOL OF RIGHT,

FRENQH CONFIDENCE RE-

STORED

(Received 10.20 p.m.)

PARIS, Dec. 28

The Chamber of Deputies unanimously voted confidence in the Government, following on M. Pichon's reply to the Socialist interpellations charging the Allies with Imperialist aims and practising secret diplomacy at th 4 expense of the people.

M. Pichon said: "After the soldiers' heroism, the miseries suffered, and the destruction of towns it is impossible to accept Germany's latest hypocritical proposals | for a lying peace based on the status quo, including the pre-war economic regime." France depended on indemnity and reparation, and the Allies were in complete agreement regarding their aims. Alsace-Lorraine was for France the very symbol of right.
