The Dutch Government has declared its readiness to leave a safe passage in order to enable Dutch shipping to enter the original, so-called, "safe" channel granted 'by Germany.

, AMSTERDAM, July 19. The Ghent correspondent of the "Echo de Beige" says that life ;is becoming absolutely impossible. Mothers are unable to get bread 'for their children, legions of whom go to bed , hungry. There are ■ numerous deaths due to want of nourishment. Children at the schools are daily supplied with a ta/blet of chocolate. Many of them fall down from sheer inanition.
