DR. BARNADO'S HOMES.
WHANGAREI'S CONTRIBUTION
Mr F. E. Rainer, secretary of Dr. Barnardo's Homes Fund, in acknowledging a contribution of £20 8s from Whangarei, writes to the local secretary (Mr H. W. Crawford) as follows:— "Will you please accept our heartiest thanks for your welcome remittance, and for all your kind help and interest on behalf of our great family of,rescued children? The needs of the work are specially urgent, as our family numbers 8000 rescued boys and girls, and our honorary director is exceedingly grateful to you and to all who are rallying to our aid. You will be glad t j learn that, thanks to the loyal help o" many kind friends, we were able to record the splendid total 4 of £20,- ---(};'(>: 19s 2d as the result of last year's work, being an advance of over£looo as compared with 1912. The present is the twenty-first "year of the existence of the Saturday fund, and our director and council hope that this interesting event may be celebrated by "the raising of £ 21,000. With renewed grateful thanks for your valued "aid in raising what we hope will prove a record total. . .*'
