LYCEUM CINEMA.
There was a. good attendance last night at the Lyceum to witness the first screening of "Quo Vadis." Praise is unecessary. It is a glorious ■picture l and was received with wonder by the audience! The acting of the cripple Chilo, Petronius, and Vinitius was superb. The whole staging is magnificent in the extreme. The characters of Lygia r.,nd the slave Eunice are admirably conceived. The death scene of Eunice and Petronius .is superb. Other beautiful scenes are the burning of Rome, the sacrifice of the Christians to the lions, tlie various views in which the apostle St, Peter appear. Everthing is in keeping;, even the actors have been choosen to closely resemble the ( early Romans in features* The play can be followed throughout without fear of losing the thread of thestory. All about to see this fine, pic- • ture are advised, however, to read 'the illustrated courier issued by the management. "Quo Vadis" will be shown for the last time on Good Friday Night. The play is a" magnificent, moral teacher, and enters the domain of j church work. ■ On Saturday the chief item of tin; change of programme is the;Sherlock , Holmes detective story "Mystery of ; 'West Sedgwick.
