DISCHARGED FROM AN ASYLUM.

AUCKLAND, March 14

The man Johnson, who escaped from the mental hospital at Avondale some months ago, and who recently returned to town of his own accord and placed on 28 days' probation, has been examined by three medical men. They testified to no trace of insanity. These reports were submitted to Dr. Beattie, the asylum superintendent, with the result that a certificate has been issued for Johnson's immediate discharge from the institution.
