KING GEORGE'S LONDON HOME.
Buckingham Palace, though not large, is a very attractive home. The grounds are lovely. There is a wide pi retch of velvet lawn, edged with glorious trees, underneath which are shady walks. There is a lake, too : and away from this peaceful, scene tne sees the domes and towers of bitsy London and hears the roar of its ceaseless traffic. The palace is small as an abode of royalty but then our I»ing is not by any means the wealthiest monarch, although he is head of rhe mightiest Empire the world has ever seen. The Kaiser, the Czar, and even King Alphonso are much richer than he, and Buckingham Palace is far smaller-r-indeed, it would easily occupy a single wing of these other huge abodes. But, all the same, it is a very luxurious home, with harmonious coloring, a sense of space and dignity, cosy sitting-rooms, airy bed rooms. No wonder King Edward loved his London home, and King George inherits the affection.
