PECULIAR FATALITY.

A DISLODGED BOULDER

WELLINGTON, Feb. 20

A fatal accident occurred near Paikakariki to-day. As the northbound Napier express was running down the incline just south of Paikakariki railway station, a big stone, which had evidently been dislodged from the top of the hill, came crashing down the steep face and struck one car with tremendous force, killing Alice Power, a tailoress, of Greymouth.

The other occupants of the car were uninjured.

The damaged car was taken off at Paikakariki and the train resumed its journey.
