MELBOURNE, Feb. 17,

The Federal Cabinet discussed the question of sending a military contingent to the Coronation and it is understood that they decided not to &pend anything in connection with the pageants or decorations.

Some sort of official recognition >nay be extended in the form of small bodies of troops or cadets despatched at private expense, otherwise it is believed that the expenditure will be limited to Ministers' expenses and

members' passage money.

NO TRIUMPHAL ARCH.

The Federal Government formally rejected the proposition to erject fi Commonwealth arch in one of the London streets at the Coronation.
