TWO YEARS FOR THEFT

AUCKLAND, Feb. 18.

At the Supreme Court the hearing was continued of the charge of theft of a heifer against.a young Maori, Eru Framiha, adjourned on Tuesday to enable the accused to get witnesses from the country. It was alleged against Eru that a heifer belonging to Kangi Clarke was sold by him for £2 to Patahi Henri. Accused denied that he sold the beast, stating that before he effected a sale he found out the heifer was not his, and refused to sell.

The jury returned a verdict of guilty against the accused, and he was sentenced to two years' imprisonment.
