TO VACCINATE OR NOT.

Legislation dealing with the vexed subject of vaccination is to be introduced this session. This much was vouchsafed to a reporter by the Hon D Buddo, Minister for Public Health yesterday. As to the lines upon which the measure is to proceed the Minister declined to be drawn. It will be sen from the official statistics that tne number of persons who have been vaccinated during the past year or two has decreased considerably compared with the figures for a few years earlier Some time ago the Department of Public Health, it will be remembered, originated lege! proceedings against a number of Christchurch parents, but as on some previous occasions, the informations were ultimately withdrawn. The Hon. Mr Buddo then announced that a Departmental report on the whole subject was about to be prepared. It is just possible that vaccination will in future not be insisted upon, excepting in zones where cases of small-i.j.ix may be discovered.
