MORE EXPEDITION ANTICIPATED.
It is generally expected that more rapid progress will be made this week in connection with the business of :he session. The Estimates are almost certain to come on again for consideration on Friday. The Gaming Bill is not now expected to make its appearance for some days. As to what it will contain there is naturally a good deal of speculation in the lobbies. In view of a promise made by the Prime Minister during the recess, and notwithstanding the decisions of the House on the resolutions submitted to it some weeks ago, it is believed in some quarters that referendums will be proposed as to whether both the bookmaker and the totalisator shall remain. The Land Bill has not yet come up for consideration at the hands of the Lands Committee, which consists of Messrs Anderson, T. Duncan, Ell, Forbes, Guthrie, Hogg, Lang, Lawry, Witty, and the Premier. Only two small local Bills stand higher th„ n
the Land Bill on the Committee's order paper. It is generally understood that the discussion of the measure by the Committee will last three weeks. With a view of obviating some of the defects which have been found in the Public Debt Extinction Bill, several amendments are to be introduced by Governor's Message.
