The House assembled at 2.30 pm. yesterday. Replying to questions ministers stated as follows:— That it is proposed to open 4000
acres of land in Hauraki Plains tor selection in' December next, and if all goes well another 4000 acres will be opened in the autumn, whilst a further 4000 acres may be opened a little later, if me drainage works are completed sM in satisfactory working order to el-able this to be done. . That consideration will be given to the question of making it compulsory for sawmillers, especially in country districts, to have means of rendering first aid in case of accidents, if such are not already provided. That the Public Works Amendment Bill dealing with the regulation of .•water power is now under consideration.
