SECOND DAY.

WELLINGTON, Sept. 21 Fine weather prevails for the second day of the Avondale J.C. meeting.

Second Hurdles. —Paritutu 1, Royal Day 2, Welleast 3. Also started: Swagsman, Tui Cakobau, Omati, Don Que'x, and Rangihatata. Won easily. Time: 3.24.

Omati fell during the race, and Porter, his rider, had his collarbone broken. A protest against Paritutu for alleged crossing was dismissed.

President's Handicap.—Sublime 1, Ballyheigh 2, Lady Francis 3. All started. Won by a head. Time: lmin 6 2-ssecs.

Avondale Guineas. —King Soult 1 Poietiers 2, Apellon 3. Scratched: Master Jack, Ashby, Wee Olga, Monoplane, Zulieman, Wenonah, and Blue Vale. Won by a length and a half. Time: lmin 45 l-ssecs.
