SOUTH AFRICAN ELECTIONS.
NATIONALISTS IN THE LEAD.
A CLEAR MAJORITY.
(Received Sept. 20, 8.40 a.m.) CAPETOWN, Sept. 15. Of the 121 seats in the new Urn hi Parliament 67 are Nationalist, 37 Unionists, 13 Independent, and 4 Labor, Mr. Botha thus has a clear majority of 13 over all other parties combined. LONDON, Sept 19 The 'Daily Telegraph" states that there is practically no difference be L tween Mr Botha's and Mr Jameson's politics concerning South Africa's position in the empire, the development of the union's resources, and the equality of the whites. Perhaps Mr Botha's hardest task is to instil his own moderation into men clinging; to ancient prejudices.
The "Times" states that Mr Jameson consistently proclaimed the Unionists' task was to support. Mr Botha against his followers who resist the convention policy. . Mr Jameson's success at the polls was the best possible augury, assuring the growth of freer divisions of political opinions and strengthening the influence of the best men.
