WHERE IS THE GAMING BILL?
LN ACCOUNT ABLE DELAY.
(Special Reporter.)
} <m WELLINGTON, Sept. 20. Although the Gammg Bill was formally introduced on Tuesday last, there is no sign of the measure itself yot. This delay is occasioning a good deal of comment. It should be explained that it does not always follow that a Bill is circulated immediately after it is formally introduced—the introduction sometimes consists of merely handing in the title In this instance, however, members find a difficulty in understanding why its publication should be deferred. Not only has gammg legislation been promised since last session, but some five or six weeks ago the voice of the House was taken on various resolutions relating to the subject.
In reply to the query if he would state when the bill would be printed the Prime Minister said, "I am not entitled to answer that question." It is understood in the lobbies that the delay is taking place owing to a difference of opinion among certain members of the Ministry in regard to the drafting of the proposals.
