Moving the motion Councillor H. J. Dewe said that it was appropriate that the Council, in marking the cessation of hostilities in Hurope, should record the splendid co-operation displayed by burgesses during the past few years when there had been a call on citizens to undertake duties in the interests of the defence of the country. The motion was seconded by the Mayor and carried. Briefly reporting to last evening’s meeting of the Feilding Borough Council the stupendous evcnt3 of the last few days the Mayor, Mr. T. L. Seddon, said that there was genuine relief that the greater part of the journey to ultimate victory had been accomplished but there was diflieult going ahead. “For one of our great Allies this may I be final victory, with all its conse- j quences, perhaps for us, not altogether favourable.
