Boy and Oar Collide

Douglas Campbell, aged 11 years, i from Feilding, was involved in an accident at Manawatu Heads on Wednesday afternoon. He collided with a car and received a deep gash on his right leg. At the shock of the impact the boy collapsed but was safely put to bed shortly afterwards with his wound bound up, medical supplies having been obtained from the post office. He is progressing favourably at present.

Activity on Kuapeliu The renewed activity in the crater of Kuapehu was reported on Wednesday to have reached an intensity equal to the most violent outburst of the eruption in March. A rock-covered island has reappeared above the steaming lake surface in the same position as the earlier vent. Steam and fine asli are pouring from the crater in a continuous, belching column and ’loud rumblings can be heard at the Chateau.
