Possible Nazi Moves To Dodge Retribution
Received Tuesday, 6.30 p.m. WASHINGTON, Sept. 4. American officials planning the administration of Germany said the Nazis may use their own concentration camps to sow the seeds for a third World War. It is believed the Nazis may put some of their most trusted followers, whose faces and names are not widely known, in the prison and torture camps so that the occupying Allies will think they are anti-Hitler and spare them. These Nazis would then attempt to worm their way into Allied confidence as persecuted martyrs. The Allies have built up extensive files to counteract this possible Nazi move, but primarily they are depending on information from the Poles, Russians, Czechs, French and other forces at work in Germany. In addition, some Nazis will probably be anxious to act as informers in the hope of saving their own skins. The officials admit that the task of weeding out tho Nazi leaders and breaking up the underground Nazi organisations will take time, but are confident that the top Nazi leaders can he brought to justice if they lire.
