More Allied Progress in Burma
Received Tuesday, 9.20 p.m. KANDY, Sept. 5. “Fourteenth Army troops yesterday moved into Sittaung on the Chindwin without opposition,” reports a Southeast Asia communique. “Many dead Japanese and much equipment were found. Thirty miles upstream patrols have reached Thaungdut which is also clear of the enemy. After clearing pocket* of resistance on the Tiddim Road troops of the Fifth Indian Division have advanced another ten miles.
