Pahiatua Fire Brigade COMPETITIONS HELD FOR ANNUAL SHIELD.
Events for the annual shield were held in the Post Office Square by the Pahiatua Fire Brigade during the Aveek-end. The aggregate of points for the shield to date gives Fireman G. Jones a lead with eight points and his nearest contenders are Firemen V. Nation and A. GoAvler, each witli four points, arid Fireman B. Fairweather and Foreman E. Collins (one point). Tho officials were: Haridicapper, Fireman J. Stokes; timekeepers. Foreman E. Collins, Fireman A. Gowler and B. Taylor; judges, Superintendent W. H. Lawry and Deputy-Superintendent R. L. Stokes. Results were as follows:—Event No. 1 —Union event, Fireman A. Gowler, running time 45 3-5 secs, penalties nil, handicap, scratch, 1; Fireman G. Jones 49, 3, 4(1, 2nd; Foreman E. Collins, 53 3-5, —, 6, 4$ 3-5, 3rd. Event No. 2: Fireman G. .Tones 35 J-5, —, 2, 33 3-5, Ist; Fireman V. Nation, 38 t-5, 1,3, 36 3-5, 2nd; Fireman A. Gowler, 35 1-5, 2, ser., 37 1-5, 3rd. Event No. 3: Fireman G. Jones, 35, —, 2, 33seos, Ist; Fireman V. Nation, 37, —, ; 3, 34, 2nd; Fireman B. Fairweathcr, 36 1-5, —2, 34 1-5, 3rd.
