Cause of Youth’s Lapse.
“Prisoner is the very class of person who should bo sent there,*' said Mr. Justico Kennedy in Dunedin yesterday in rejecting a suggestion by counsel that a lad of nearly .18, who appeared for sentenco for breaking and entering and theft should not be sent to Borstal on the grounds that he might come out worse than when he entered. His Honour added that such institutions in this country happily had a very high percentage of successes. Counsel said that the lad's trouble was that at an early age he was earning too much monc}', sometimes up to £5 a week. Prisoner was sentenced to two years' reformative detention.
