Terrace End Branch Of N.Z. Labour Party

The second of a series of weekly dances was held on Wednesday night in the Coronation Hall at Terrace End, when a large number attended and danced to the music of a professional orchestra. Many soldiers were present, also several members of the U.S. Marines. Mr. G. Gulliver made an efficient M.C. and kept the dancers on their toes, and Mr. Lloyd played several extras in his usual old-time sty'le and were greatly appreciated. The supper arrangements were in the hands of the ladies’ committee. The Lucky Gay Gordons were won by Cpl. McKay and lady partner, Miss Pat Cadogan, and the Monte Carlo was won by Dvr. Bell and partner, Miss Herbingon. Cpl. McKay was M.C. for the Monte Carlo waltz, conducting same in a very efficient manner. Two American visitors led off in a r.|:w dance called “The Congo” which soon had the large number of dancers joining in the fun. P.F.C. (Scotty) Scbern, U.S. Marine, was the leader in the “Congo” dance. Midnight came all too soon, and Mr. Gulliver, before announcing the last dance, thanked the large gathering present for their attendance and hoped to see them and their friends at next week’s danefe.
