Feilding Livestock Sale

BREEDING EWES SELL READILY GOOD ENQUIRY TOR STATION CATTLE The Feilding live stock sale yesterday attracted large entries in all, but the fat sheep section and the attendance was in keeping with the active interest now being shown in the breeding ewe market. Prices for all classes of stock were firm with perhaps a sliffht weakening in the store sheep section. Beef sold readily and the enquiry for station cattle w as very firm. Tat Sheep. A somewhat larger offering of wether mutton contributed to the entries in the fat sheep section and prices were firmer. Sales were:—Ewes, 19 at 12s lOd; 95 at 13s Tel; 10 at 12s 7d; 11 at 10s lOd; wethers, 13 at 20s Id; 5 at 27s 4d; i at 22s lOd; 6 at 26s 7d; 3 at 26s 7d; 3 at 24s lOd; 4 at 26s 10d; 11 at 24s Id; 9 at 27s 7d; 15 at 27s 7d; 18 at 26s 7d; blackface mutton, 15 at 28s 4d; lambs, 16 at 21s lOd; 14 at 20s 7d. Store Lambs. The market showed a slight weakening in values for store lambs although the better conditioned lots realised prices in keeping with the general firmness for this class of stock. Station Cattle. A large entry of station cattle generally in fresh condition experienced a very good enquiry and sold on a firm market well up to vendors’ expectations. Store Cattle. Operators in the store cattle section had a good selection and the offering changed hands readily at schedule rates. The prices were:—Boner cows, 30s, 355, £3, £3 Is, £3 ss, £3 7s Gd, £3 10s, £3 Ils, £3 15s, £3 18s; £3 19s, £4 2s Gd to £4 I7s Gd; bulls, £3 10s, £4 2s Gd; empty heifers, £2 7s Gd. Dairy Cattle. There was very little offering in the dairy cattle section, -the lots selling as .follows: Springing cows, £lO 10s; cow milk, £9 15s; Jersey wcuner heifers, oJs, £2 4s, £3 ss, £3 10s to £5 15s. Dalgety & Company report on the annual Ewe Fair held at Bulls which was held in conjunction with the usual fortnightly sale. There was a largo entry of approximately 3500 ewes which came to hand in excellent order and condition. There was a large attendance of buyers who wore keenly interested in the offering. Competition was keen from the outset and we report a particularly bright sale with a total clear- i ance at prices, if anything, showing a slight improvement on recent sales. A few pens of lambs and fat sheep were also on offer which met with a ready sale with values firm ut lute rates. Boutlidown ranis also met with u strong enquiry at improved priees. An average yarding of fat cattle enjoyed a good market at satisfactory prices. Store cows made late rates. Some nice quality weaner Jersey heifers came to hand which met with a ready sale. A large offering of pigs sold to a good enquiry and late rates were fully maintained.
