Pigs, Poultry and Produce
The Dominion Auctioneering Co. reports good yarding of pigs and a capacity entry of poultry at their sale on Thursday, a total clearance being made at satisfactory rates. Heavy stores and porkers were in demand while weaners were somewhat easier in value. In the poultry section pullets again commanded high prices while the demand was satisfactory for table birds. Fruit and produce were somewhat easier in price, peached in particular declining in value by several shillings per case. Quota - PlGS.—Best weaners l(ss. to 20s. each, small lUs to 13s, slips 325. to 375., forward stores, £2 to £2 55., porkers £2 12s. to £3 ss. POULTRY".-—Heavy hens 3s Sd. to 4s 3d each, light liens Is (5d to 3s each, young ducks, Gs 7d. to 10s each, old ducks 2s to 3s Id each, heavy cockerels -Is Id to 5s Gd each, medium 3s Gd to 3s 9d each, forward pullets 14s to IGs each, medium 11s to 13s each, small Ss to 9s each. PRODUCE.—Peaches, Golden Queen, 9s to 13s Gd per case, freestone 10s to 14s per case; plums IGs to 22s per case; grapes Is 9d to 5s Id per lb.; quinces 14s to IGs Gd per case; tomatoes, i ’s best 3s to 4s Gd per case, others Is Gd to 2s Gd per case; raspberries 2s to 2s 4d per lb.; rhubarb Gs to 9s per dozen bundles; cauliflowers Ss to 10s per case; cabbags, savoy, 3s to Gs per sack; green peas lid to 4d per lb.; beans 2d to 4d per lb.; kumeras 3d. to 3?.d per lb; marrows 5s to Gs per sack; pumpkins Ss to 10s per sack; beetroot 3s to 5s er case; carrots 4s to Gs per sugar bag; parsnips Ss to 10s per sugar bag; lettuce 3s to 13s per case.
