Rev*. E. S. and Mrs. Hoddinott of Greyniouth, are visiting Palmerston North and are staying with Mrs Hoddinott’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. U. Moffatt, Frederick Street. Mrs. G. A. Eliott (District Commissioner) presided over the March meeting of the Palmerston North Girl Guides’ Association. The secretary Miss M. Warren, reported on the financial return of the recent swimming sports, which were considered most satisfactory, and appreciation was expressed of the excellent way in which the sports were carried through. Pleas ure was expressed in the presence of Mrs. Eliott, after her recent indisposition. Company matters were discussed also plans for future activities. Through the kindness of Mrs. Arthur Just, members of tho {Sunshine Club spent a very happy social afternoon at her home, College Street, recently. The time was pleasantly occupied with competitions and music, Mrs. Boon contributing bright selections at the piano, and Mrs. lieggie, songs. Indoor games were enjoyed and competition winners were Mesdames Boon, Heggio and Furno. Unfortunately rain fell making it impossible to spend any time in the pretty grounds. Afternoon tea was served by the ladies of the club after which the president, Mrs. E. A. Shaw, thanked Mrs. Just for her kindly hospitality.
