Rangiotu
(From our Own Correspondent.) Two local boys, Pte. D. Larkins and Sapper A. King, who have been recently invalided home, were given a welcome home dance last week. The dance which was combined with the usual fortnightly euchre, was largely attended. Duties of M.C. were carried out by Mr. C. Rose. Novelty prize-winners were Miss J. Scott and partner and Mr. E. Donaldson and partner. Mr. R. E. Dixon presented the guests with a small cheque each. Euchre prizes were won by:— Ladies, Mrs. S. Pearce, Ist, Mrs. Ried, 2nd; men, Mr. J. Legge, Ist, Mr. N. Alsop, 2nd. Points’ prize-winners were: j Mrs. Pearce and Mr. Legge. Miss A. Couch man, Wellington, spent 1 Labour week-end as the guest of Mr. and Mrs. O. Jepsen. Mrs. L. Hunter is visiting Carterton, j The following were successful in their Home Nursing examination held last week:—Mesdames Millard, Russell, White, Te Rangi, Stanbra, Hunter, Beard, Legge, Misses A. Brooke-Taylor, and P. Gimblett, The Tennis Club will be opening their season next Saturday. A short tournament has been arranged. Local boys who have been recently reported prisoners-of-war are: Pte. A. F. (Mick) Sargisson, Pte. F. K. Lucinsky, Pte. R. CJvammer.
