VISIT TO TRENTHAM Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Nov. 5. Starting with a ceremonial parade of troops in training, the GovernorGeneral, Sir Cyril Newall, spent a full day on his visit of inspection to tho military camp at Trentham to-day. The visit was originally set down for Friday last, but was deferred owing to the bad weather. To-day was beautifully fine, and tho march past \vas a great spectacle. A considerable number of men took part in the parade.

Sir Cyril Newall was met on arrival by Brigadier-General Putticlc, Chief of the General Staff, and the camp commandant, Lieutenant-Colonel H. .D. McHugh, and beside Sir Cyril Newall as he took tho salute was LieutenantColonel R. Bagnall, who was in command of the parade. On the dais were Brigadier-General Puttick, Colonel Conway, Lieutenant-Colonel McHugh, Lieu-tenant-Colonel Iv. L. Stewart, and Captain Helmorc. Captain A. J. Kcrse was brigade major, and the battalion commanders were Major W. Pollard, artillery, Major A. E. Gorton, engineers and A.S.C., Major R. F. Mitchell, machine-gun and ordinance, Captain R. Macewan, reconnaissance, and Lieutenant W. L. Free, special training cadre.

After the march past tho troops advanced in review order, and were briefly addressed by his Excellency, who congratulated Lieutenant-Colonel Bagnall on the magnificent parade. “It is absolutely first-class,” said Sir Cyril. “I know how long you have been here, and what a lot you have to do to put up a parade like this after so short a period. It is a very fine effort indeed. I know from experience that troops that are good on ceremonial parades are always good at everything else.’’

His Excellency afterwards visited the camp hospital, and in the afternoon visited the various training areas. Afternoon tea was followed by visits to regimental institutes, including the Salvation Army, Church Army, Catholic, Y.M.C.A. and Everyman’s.
