Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Hamilton, and have proved of great nelp to deaf members of the congregations, some of whom have not been able to hear the service for years. The cost of tlie apparatus has beeu defrayed by the Ladies’ Guild. Further equipment is to be installed. Big Increase in Radio Licenses The number of radio receiving licenses continues to increase, said the Postmaster-General (Hun. P. G. Webb) in a brief statement last night. A new peuk was reached in June, when the number of paid licenses current in the Dominion was 335,023, an increase of 12,334 over June, 1040. For every hundred households in New Zealand 01 had radio receiving sets installed. Duty on Soldiers’ Tobacco A statement that duty was still payable on tobacco and cigurettes sent in privately forwarded parcels to soldiers overseas was made by Air. K. L. Usmar, secretary of the Auckland Provincial Patriotic Council. Letters have been received from soldiers expressing preference for New Zealand tobacco and some troops have stated that duty was not being charged. Air. Usmar said his council had no knowledge of this alteration, and had there been any change the council would have been advised.
