Welfare of Primary Industries
PROPOSED INQUIRY IN N.S.W. United Press Association.—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. Received Friday, 11 p.m. SYDNEY, June 30. The New South Wales treasurer, Hon. A. Mair, has decided to conduct an investigation into the welfare of primary industries, particularly wool and wheat. He said: “I cannot but feel concerned about the prices and supply tendencies in the light of statistical information in my possession." He suggested that while those countries which the Government used to regard as importers now seek to establish themselves as selfsufficient, coupled with a diminishing demand for Australian products, it would be necessary in future to adopt completely original forms of treatment and approach to which ho would devote himself.
