| From Our Own Correspondent. Personal 1 Miss D. Musker, who has been on the teaching staff of the local school for some years, has received notice- of transfer to the Ridgeway School, Wellington. Miss Musker leaves to take up her new appointment on Friday, June 30. Mr. J. Alexander, of the staff of the Shannon Dairy Company's factory, returned on Wednesday night from a fortI night's motor trip in the North Island. Mr. Alexander was present at the .Mangatainoka School jubilee celebrations and later went on to Inglewood, Rotorua, Tauranga and Napier. Mr. and Mrs. A. Graham, Marinoto Road, left on Wednesday by car for Dannevirke. Later they will go on to Napier. They expect to be away a fort night. Mr. E. Perry, accompanied by Mrs. Perry, ieit for Wellington on Thursday afternoon to attend the funeral of a nephew of Mrs. Perry, Mr. Wilfred Ryan, who succumbed to injuries received while playing football in Sydney. The body was brought to .New Zealand for lntermem to-day. Mr. Tom Wood, who has been engaged In farming at M&kerua for a number of years, will be leaving the farm at the end of this month, and, with his wife am. family, will probably come into Shannon to live. Recently resigning from the Railways Department to join the Police Force, Mr. G. Jensen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jenson, Vogel Street, is at present visiting hi: brother, Constable E. Jensen, of Mourn Eden, Auckland. Mr. L. Coulter has taken over the pr. petty at Makerua recently farmed b; Mr. O. Coley. Mr. and Mrs. A. Burling, Grey Street, have as their guests Mr. and Mrs. Co. Pentecost, of Greymouth, who arrived in Shannon on Thursday. Buckliy Golf Club The winner of the June medal was N. Mabey, with a card of 33—10—67. others to return good cards were C. Stern, 74 6—68; J. Mabey, 74—6—08; R. Graham, 83—16—68; and E. Wilson, 74—4—70. The above players suffered the usual penalty, a reduction in handicap. Play in the Goldfinch and Cousins Cup was advanced

Evans was appointed to visit arid address the children of the W&ik&nae and Otaki Schools, with a view to extending the clubs activities in those areas The calf cluo competition is open to all heifer calves of any breed born between July and August 31, 1939. The hope was expressed that there would be increased entries In th competition this year, particularly from Otaki, Waikanae and Levin.
