GREAT FIELDS CARDED FOR ALEXANDER PARK TO-DAY WIN AND PLACE BETTING Special to “The Times.” AUCKLAND, Last Night. Excellent fields will allow for more place dividends in every race at Alexandra Park to-morrow when the Auckland Trotting Club wlil stage its oneday autumn fixture.

The withdrawal of Tsana leaves 21 on the limit of the Devonport Handicap, and, unless a few more drop out, three rows will be necessary and the luck in drawing for post positions will be important in the case of these with the best prospects. . . F. J. Smith, who is making a good recovery from his accicfent at Addington, will not be able to drive, and the team will be piloted .by his brother-in-law, C. G. Smith, who is driving particularly well this season, and who won with Sandusky at the Christmas and February meetings. The track is likely to be yielding after the heavy rain and this may upset the form of several who have been racing prominently on the hard ground. Papatoetoe Handicap: Kewpie’s King and Worthy Light. The well-known trotting trainer, .Tim Bullock, who for many years trained a large team successfully for the late Mr. J. R. Corrigan, and latterly has been living at Huntly in retirement, had the misfortune a few days ago to fall and break his thigfi. The veteran who, two weeks ago celebrated his 82nd birthday, is an inmate of the Waikato Hospital. THE ACCEPTANCES

MAKING A CLEAN SWEEP At Suffolk Downs (Boston) in February, 26 stables on the course were condemned by a building inspector. He said they created a fire hazard, that they violated building laws because exterior walls were not fire-resistant, and they had neither cement floors nor open drains. The assessed value was £43,000. At Suffolk Downs, as elsewhere in America, horses are regularly stabled on the course, and one can imagine the effect of that inspector’s action upon the management.
