Obituary
MR. JOHN LOGAN, OF CHELTENHAM His many friends and acquaintances learned with regret of the death of Mr. John Logan, of Cheltenham, which occurred at the Palmerston North Public Hospital after a serious operation. The late Mr. Logan had reached the allotted span of life, being 74 years of age. Born at Kaiapoi, Christchurch, in 1865, he was the son of the late John and Rebecca Logan, having lived in New Zealand all his lifetime. For some 45 years the late gentleman resided in the Kiwitea and Cheltenham districts and was in tho employ of the Kiwitea County Council. Mrs. Logan, who before her marriage was Miss Mary Watkins, predeceased her husband two years ago. To the deceased’s brother, Mr. J. Logan, of Tahuranui, Nelson, and nephew, Mr. D. Logan, of Palmerston North, will go out the sincere sympathy of a host of friends in their bereavement.
The funeral left the Seventh Day Adventist Church, Feilding, of which the late Mr. Logan was a member. Before proceeding to the Feilding cemetery, Pastor Claus conducted a service at the church and paid tribute to the deceased, who had so faithfully and sincerely discharged his duties to God and man. A solo appropriate to the occasion completed a solemn and impressive service. The pall-bearers at the church were Messrs. F. and L. Hewitt, F. Audry, R. Taylor, Lutze and Batchelar, those at the cemetery being Messrs. A. H. Mills, E. Christenson, D. Logan, J. Logan, R. Bismark, Larsen and Versey. The service at the graveside was conducted by Pastor Claus. Among the floral tokens were tributes from the chairman and councillors of the Kiwitea County Council, and members of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.
