From Our Own Correspondent Pia Raising Club.
The annual meeting of the Rangiwahia Pig Club was held on April 19. Mr W. E. Boshier presiding over an attendance of twelve members. In presenting the annual report and balance sheet, the chairman outlined the club’s operations during the past year, with special mention of the assistance and interest tendered by tne district supervisor, Mr E. P. Nielsen. After having purchased two sows, the club's balanoe sheet still showed a credit. The election of officers resulted as follows: Chairman and custodian, Mr 'vV. E. Boshier; secretary, Mr E. L. B. Pemberton; committee, Messrs W. E. Boshier, E. G. Billinghurst, S. A. Stent, S. M. Meads; delegate to district council. Mr W. E. Boshier. Football Club. Mr J. Watt presided over a large attendance at the annual meeting of the Rangiwahia Football Club, held on April 15. Prior to the commencement of business, members stood in silence as a mark of respect to the late Mr F. H. Thompson, a former player, vioe-president. coach and manager. The president, in his report, congratulated the club on the past season’s activities. The balance sheet showed the club to be in a good financial position. The following officers were elected for the ensuing season: Patron, Mr J. Collie; president, Mr J. Watt; vice-presidents, Messrs W. S. Marshall, D. T. Couper, N. F. Saywell, P. E. Jewell, T. M. C. Smith, H. G, Fankhauser, A. Mills, T. McLenaghan; delegates to Oroua sub-union, Messrs N. Amadio and N. M. Martin; secretary and treasurer, Mr N. M. Martin; assistantsecretary, Mr B. Harris. Votes of thanks were accorded Messrs R. Deroles and H. G. Fankhauser, who have served the club well for so many years as delegates to the Union. As the meeting was unable to get anyone to fill the offices of club captain and of coach, the matter was left to the executive. Air T. M. C. Smith was accorded a vote of thanks for his services as manager of the juniors. The office of junior manager was left to the executive to fill, as Mr Smith was unable to continue in this position. There was considerable discussion as to the unclean state of the ground, and a deputation was appointed to wait upon the Domain Board in regard to tho matter. It was decided to hold the ball during the last week in July. Wairakei Defence Rifle Club. The Te Hekenga Cup was contested last Saturday under tricky shooting conditions, over the 300 and 500 yards ranges. Mr J. Carey proved the winner with a score of 94. Details of scoring were as follow: J. Carey (6), 41, 47—94; S. M. Meads (scr), 46, 46—92; R. Hancock (7), 43, 42—92; R. Kronast (3), 43, 45—91; J. H. Thompson (scr), 45, 44—89; W. Hyde (2), 40, 47—89; I. Boshier (9), 37, 42—88; S. A. Meads (1), 43, 42—86; K. Carey (5), 40, 39—84; W. S. Couper (7), 36, 40—83. The remaining contests for the season are Wairakei Cup, on April 29; C. Moess trophy, May 6; McGregor Cup, May 20; annual shoot, June 3.
