Palmerston North Y.W.C.A.
Twenty seven members of the Y.W.C.A. gathered for an early morning service which was held on the roof of the building on Anzac morning and an atmosphere fitting to the occasion was developed throughout.
The monthly business meeting of the Girl Citizen’s Council was held when reports showed that programme work was proving interesting and new members were being steadily enrolled. Leaders of the sections met for an informal discussion of plans at the home of the president, Mrs C. A. Small. In both groups plans for the community gathering to be held ou May 2, and plans connected with finances were made. Members of the board and parents of the girl members are invited to attend this gathering. Under the leadership of Miss Barbara Stuart two lunch-hour physical culture classes will commence and will be held each Tuesday from 12.15 to 1 p.m. and each Wednesday from 1.15 to 2 p.m. This arrangement is to meet the convenience of business girls and full particulars will bo given on application to the Y.W.C.A. A similar class is to be organised for women and all those who are interested arc asked to attend a meeting to be held
at the Y.W.C.A. on Friday, May 5, at 2.15 p.m. At a recital to be lield on Monday night in the Y.W.C.A. Hall, an interesting and entertaining programme will be presented and includes the following artists:—Misses Joan Cronin, Bonny Williams, June Butcher, Ferol Howley, Jean Masters and N. Masters, Marjorie Millar, T. Phillips, M. Guy. Mr Peter Keith, C. McAffer and Masters E. Day and E. Andrews. The first of the winter series of bridge parties organised by the board of directors will take place next week.
