Willard Home Welcomes Matron and Sub-Matron
PLEASANT SOCIAL FUNCTION Messes G. M. Hunter and J. D. Dynes, who arrived last week from Dunedin to take up their duties as matron and sub-matron of the Willard Children’s Home, were accorded a warm and cheery welcome when members of the Board visited the home in Russell Street, on Monday afternoon. The rooms had been attractively decorated with rose pink dahlias and antirrihinums, and a bright fire added to the friendly atmosphere. A “ nursery rhyme” competition, arranged by Mrs K. McDonald, was won by Miss Hunter. Afternoon tea provided by the members brought to a close a pleasant afternoon. Those present included Mesdames E. A. Collins, E. C. Barnett, C. Greig, D. J. Lovelock, IC. McDonald, A. Andrews, I. Wilson, C. F. Spooner, J. B. Sankey, A. E. Evans, G. Houston and E. B. Jennings, Misserc Hunter and Dynes.
Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames T. R. Hodder, G. H. Bennett, D. Watson, F. J. Nathan, N. Ratcliffe, and Miss M. Cranston.
