Easter Wedding in Pahiatua

TAYLOR—LONG The wedding took place at St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church, Pahiatua, on Easter Saturday afternoon of Doris, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. W. Long, of Ballance, and Bruce Samuel, only son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Harry Taylor, of Pahiatua. Rev. A. A. Armstrong officiated at the ceremony and Mr. J. E. McDonald was at the organ. The church had been beautifully decorated by friends of the bride, who, to the strains of the “Wedding March,’’ entered with her father. She was dressed in a beige lace frock over pink, with a brown velvet sash and brown shoes, and wore a bandeau of lace leaves with a diamante brooch. Her bouquet was of pink roses, lilies and carnations. The bridesmaid, Miss Violet Long, sister of the bride, wore a frock of apricot lace with a sash and bandeau of deper shaded velvet ribbon and carried a bouquet of autumn-tinted roses and carnations.

The best man was Mr. R. H. Rice, of Pahiatua, and Mr. Thomas Kennerley, of Dannevirke, acted as usher. After the ceremony a reception was held at East's tea-rooms, where there were present nearly 50 guests, many from such distant towns as Dannevirke, Wanganui, Auckland and the Taranaki district. The guests were received by Mrs. Long, who wore a floral frock with a peacock blue coat and hat and carried a bouquet of yellow roses and blue cornflowers. Rev. A. A. Armstrong presided at tho reception, at which all the usual toasts were honoured.

Tho numerous gifts included the bridegroom’s gift to the bride of a beautiful crocodile handbag and suede shoes, while to the bridesmaid he gave a lovely string of pearls. When the happy couple left by car to spend their honeymoon touring the north, the bride travelled in a clover pink frock, with hat and accessories to match. Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Taylor will make their future home in Pahiatua.
