Sir Hubert Ostler will bo the presiding Judge at the session of the Supremo Court in Palmerston North next week.

Air. W. L. Harrison, headmaster of tho Temuka District High School, will retire ou June 30 after 40 years’ service to education in New Zealand.

Mr. J. H. Salmon, S.M., of Wanganui, has been granted six months holiday from Alay 1. The relieving Magistrate for Wanganui and district will bo Air. A. Coleman, S.M.

Archbishop O’Shea, Aletropolitan of New Zealand, who has been on a visit to Europe and is now on his way back to New Zealand, will reach Auckland on May 28.

Rev. E. S. and Mrs. Hoddinott, who have been staying, with Mrs. Moffatt, Frederick Street, leave to-day for Wellington, where Rev. Air. Hoddinott is stationed at Aliramar.

Air. J. F. D. Jeune, engineer-clerk to the Alackenzie County Council, has left on the first stage of his world tour, under the auspices of the Carnegie Corporation, to study public administration in its various phases overseas.

Colonel R. Alilcs, formerly officer commanding the Auckland Military District, who has spent the past year at the Imperial Defence College, Oamberley, England, is returning by the Rotorua, due at Wellington ou May 10.

Alujor J. A. D. Iverach, AI.C., has been appointed to command the Otago University Aledical Company, New Zealand Aledical Corps, in place of Lieutenant-Colonel R. A. H. Fulton, who has been transferred to the Reserve of Officers.

Lieutenant-Colonel J. W. Craven AI.C., Reserve of Officers, Royal Army Aledical Corps (Territorial Army), has been appointed lieutenant-colonel, New Zealand Medical Corps, and transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Northern Military District.

Dr. R. A. Robinson, lecturer m chemistry at Auckland University College, has been granted leave of absence in 1940 in order to allow him to take up a Sterling Research Fellowship which has been offered to him by Yale University. The college council, in granting leave of absence, congratulated Dr. Robinson on the honour conferred upon him.
